Capture changes to Dynamic Content in Audit Log
Posted Jan 03, 2023
Another missing chunk to audit logs -- Dynamic Content creation, deletion, and modification are completely untracked. This needs to be tracked. This is a very easy way for someone to maliciously change placeholder text and you would have no way of knowing who did it. Also, I would just like a record of what the heck we had for the DC for a variant before the latest change, to be recorded somewhere in Zendesk for posterity.

We also have this need.
An important dynamic content item was changed a while ago, and I have no way to track where this change came from to follow up with the editor. The only think I can do is look at the "updated_at" timestamp on the object itself. I looked at audit log and expected it there and it's not, and I was disappointed.

If you use dynamic content, for example as parts of your requester received, or updated, etc, you can today have a user that modifies an a dynamic content item and writes "Goshdarnit I'm tried".
A scenario in a business is to delegate updating pieces of dynamic content to teams, but with it follows an expectation of responsibility on the editors.
Mostly, the edits we have seen as harmful are not indentionally so, but users updating content that doesn't fit the item, or just forgetting to the item timely.
It's really unfortunate that we have no way of following up on such edits in audit log today, or by looking at the dynamic item itself, since it doesn't have any revision history.

+1 - to cut down on time for changes, we use DC. It doesn't cut down on time when we have to submit a ticket to track down changes

Hey Friends,
Audit Log Product guy here – I didn't realize we didn't have these changes. Let me talk to the team taking care of the dynamic content side of things and see if we can get something going.
No ETA or commitments here, but definitely glad to cheerlead.
and thank you all for the input! It's extremely helpful in terms of uncovering “misses” and prioritizing things… Keep them coming!
