Feature Request- Side Conversation Placeholders

Posted Feb 20, 2023

At the time this post is written I'm not aware of any outstanding functionality for manipulating parent tickets from child tickets and vice-a-versa. I'd like, for instance, to be able to create a child ticket (side conversation) with myself as the requester initially, but then have a trigger run that changes the requester to match that of the parent ticket.

That would be simple enough in a notify webhook trigger to update the child ticket that was fired from conditions on the parent ticket, IF there was a placeholder to call the child ticket id. But there isn't one right now, correct?

Hi Ben, we have some ideas we're exploring right now that would help with this type of workflow. It wouldn't necessarily be a trigger to change the requester, but to make it possible for the requester of the parent ticket to be the requester on the child, etc.

That said, if you're looking into webhooks, you could potentially use webhooks to get the external_ids from the child ticket and use the API to use the parent ticket's ID to look it up and change the requester on the child or something along those lines?

Hello Toby, can you share the API calls we can make to possibly accomplish this
