Dynamic Content/Macro formatting issues - Extra line added above message and bolded hyperlinks started on new line
Posted May 07, 2024
I just noticed on 5/6 some issues with the way macro content is applied to a ticket.
My team uses Dynamic Content for our macros, and up until 5/6, we had no issues. However, we just started seeing the following issues on several macros:
- When a macro is applied to a ticket, an extra line break/paragraph space is added before the content of the macro
- So far this is only happening to a handful of macros, and it only affects some people
- When a macro with a bolded hyperlink is applied, the hyperlink will start on a new line.
- I verified with the dynamic content that the hyperlink is formatted correctly based on these rules - **[text](link)**
- Removing the ** fixes it, but we'd like to bold the link to help them stand out more. I'm not sure if this is a bug or what, because we've always bolded hyperlinks in dynamic content and never had this issue before.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for reporting this issue and contributing to its visibility!
Our developers identified the root of the problem and fixed it earlier today. Unfortunately, another update didn't go as planned and lead to this behavior, so it was reverted.
We apologize for the inconveniences caused.

Please see Jérémy 's comment below for an update here. We apologize for misidentifying this as in line with product functionality. This issue experienced has been resolved.
Hey Sam,
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I have checked in with our Product team to confirm that issues you are reporting are in line with product functionality. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us!

Shawna James Is this functionality the result of something that just changed? Primarily with #2, that just started happening. Previously, we were able to bold hyperlinks in dynamic content and had no issues at all. I'm attaching screenshots showing what one of our responses with a bolded hyperlink would look like (hyperlink in-line), versus what it looks like now (hyperlink starting a new line).

Hi Shawna,
We are experiencing the same issue. We haven't made any changes to the formatting of our dynamic content but, starting last week, indents are appearing throughout macros. I've played around with the issue and agree with Sam that it is related to the use of the ¨*¨
If this is in line with product functionality, then how should I reformat this so that their aren't indents in the middle of sentences or after bullet points? Also, how do we prevent the addition of indents at the top of every macro?
Hopefully these images help better demonstrate what I'm looking at:
Thank you for your time and help!

Hi there,
Just wanted to confirm that we're experiencing the same issue. We never had any problems, but now the dynamic content that gets applied in our macros is adding an extra space at the beginning and also adding spaces between our signature images, which messes up the looks of the signature.

Hi,
I would also like to flag exactly the same issue with Dynamic Content macros. No changes have been made by my team to the body of our Dynamic Content macros, and yet now all bolded hyperlinks and lists (numbered or unnumbered) add unnecessary line breaks added once the macro renders. This is clearly not an ideal scenario for our agents, who now have to manually format these macros whenever applied.
I'd like to add that as Zendesk's Dynamic Content macros do not support Rich Text Formatting, we have had to use Markdown in order to have any hyperlinks available at all. The only current solution would be to remove bold formatting for every single hyperlink, which is extremely costly in terms of time and also lowers the visibility of the links we provide to our users.
A resolution or update to the situation would be very much appreciated here.
Thanks!
