HTML block list?

Posted Sep 27, 2024

Are there plans to have a place in Guide Admin to access all HTML blocks - like what is available for Content Blocks?

Currently, we've “hacked” Content Blocks to act as “insertable templates” for our authors (who insert then unlink the block, then populate the “template” to create an article). HTML blocks could also be useful - example: for inserting callout “templates”  (and then unlinking/populating)

Agreed. This would be a great use of HTML blocks, especially if they weren't linked by default.

Hello Erin,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the ability to access all HTML blocks in the Guide Admin.

Currently, HTML blocks can be used creatively as insertable templates, as you mentioned. While there are no immediate plans to provide a dedicated space for managing all HTML blocks similar to the Content Blocks feature, your feedback is valuable. We continually strive to enhance user experience based on customer needs.

Using Content Blocks as templates is a great workaround, and we encourage you to keep sharing any additional insights or suggestions on how we can improve this functionality in the future.

If I am understanding your post correctly, this would be of great use to my team/company as well.

Currently I am the acting administrator for our Help Center and the one pushing the boulder up the hill of sorts for more extensive use of HTML and CSS elements in articles. Unfortunately, most of our contributors are not trained in the use of these languages. For now I've settled on creating mini articles for micro-templates of different things such as list styles, tables, etc.

The micro-template articles show the underlying HTML/CSS in a code box and then what it looks like in a preview.

This aids me in my editing, but I'd really like to try to identify and implement a way where my contributors can more effectively insert styles or HTML templates of sorts and then edit it without breaking the overall structure.
