How do I connect my legacy Sell account with an existing Zendesk account if I am not the account owner?
Answer
The account owner of a Zendesk subdomain is the only one who can agree to connect a legacy Sell account to Support. Being the account owner is essential and is mentioned as a prerequisite in this article: Connecting your legacy Sell account to the Zendesk platform. If the account owner does not have a Zendesk Sell license, follow the instructions below.
To provision a Sell license and have the account owner connect the accounts
- Identify the account owner of the Support account using the instructions in this article: Who is the owner of my account?
- Provide the Support account owner with an admin license for Sell, if they do not have one already, see the article: Adding and removing Sell licenses. If you do not have a license available, deactivate an active Sell user for the short time needed to integrate.
- Have the account owner log into Sell and connect the accounts using the instructions in the article: Connecting your legacy Sell account to the Zendesk platform.
- Remove the Sell license from the account owner and reactivate the Sell user.

Additional Email fields can be created on Leads and Contacts and then emails to/from those email addresses will sync to Sell. Information on how to add a custom field is here.

Got it -- the main request is for the ability to backdate/edit a call's date in Sell. We'll track this request and see if it's an important enhancement for others as well. There's always a balance between letting people backdate and activity reporting/validity.

Can you tell me more about why your team uses Notes to Log Calls in Sell instead of manually logging them as a Call? Is it because you want to use the Note Tagging feature that is currently only available on Notes and not on Calls/Texts/Emails?
We are currently working hard to get Sell data into Zendesk's Explore reporting tool, so I expect your custom reporting requests to be solved with the work we're doing in that project, but would love to understand your request more. I don't expect us to include Notes in the Communication field since most Notes don't represent a client communication, so it'd be great to understand more deeply what outcome you need to achieve.
