Do Help Center pages automatically display content in user's browser language?

    Hi Matthias,

The en-us pages should open as English (US) irrespective of browser language of the user.

The Help Center root url should direct to the default language set in your General Settings: .../hc/admin/general_settings.

So no automagic going on here - if you have a web widget on the other hand, that IS keyed to browser language by default.

    Hi Matthias

Let me put these as points so in future community members looking for information find it

    1. Zendesk Help Center doesn't switch language of Help Center based on visitor's OS/Browser locale; i.e. Language would not be switched automatically, and user is required to switch language using option (dropdown, language selector) provided in Help Center
    2. Once user switches to a different language in Zendesk Help Center - requests /hc/ would forward to /hc/<selected_locale>/. For example, /hc/categories/<category_id> would forward to /hc/<selected_locale>/categories/<category_id>

@Jacob: Please correct me if there is something wrong in the post. Thank you.

    Cheers

Jacob J Christensen - Cloudhuset A/S Are you able to answer Diziana's questions? I realize it has been a while, but I have the exact same questions myself.

    På forhånd tak!

    Hi Jesper,

It has been a while 😃 It looks to me like Diziana's comment is more of a detailed restatement of my comment than a question.

What is it that you're wondering? I would like to help if I can.

Jacob J Christensen - Cloudhuset A/S I read that wrong, sorry. You didn't correct, so I can assume that her two points still hold up, right?

I guess my question is: is it possible to redirect to a language specific version of an article based on the browser locale?

Because in this article it seems that browser locale is a factor ...

I believe that the variables 2-5 only apply when a visitor goes to the root of the help center for the first time

    E.g.
    https://support.zendesk.com/hc/

Once they land on a locale

    E.g.

    https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

then they will manually have to use the language selector to change locale (or follow a link to a different localized part of the help center).

All articles include the locale component, so I'm guessing you want for someone with a German browser language set to be redirected from

    https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001570808

    to:

    https://support.zendesk.com/hc/de/articles/360001570808

    Is that correct?

I'm not aware of any native way to achieve this, but there may be an app for that.
