Same for me and even worse a hard return is not leaving a space. Everything I wrote in separate paragraphs and lists is all in one huge blob of text and looks awful.
Any news Zendesk?

Must be a bug! And maybe it's impacting this forum as well, for all the formatting I did in my original ticket are not showing now that I see it on this page.

Sounds like a global issue. I contacted @ZendeskOps and they instructed me to email support@zendesk.com. I've provided this thread to them.

Wow, kudos support! I refreshed my troublesome page at 9:50am CST and the editor had returned. It might be a hiccup, but support quickly responded and then escalated to a Tier 2 (?) so that must mean it's global and they're on it.
