Google Tag Manager dataLayer Events
RespondidaAs it stands, Zopim/ZenDesk use the Google Analytics SDK to send events to Google Analytics without providing any control over this data to the user. I've had a number of my clients where this causes 'source-of-truth' discrepancies between GA and other marketing tech such as Google Campaign Manager/Search Ads 360 because there is no replicable way to send a Floodlight or Pixel in the same way.
The solution to this issue is to instead push events into Google Tag Manager's dataLayer to allow the administrators to replicate the events Zopim/Zendesk already sends to GA, but for Campaign Manager and Search Ads 360.

Hi Charlie,
You can disable the events from being sent using the following JS API: https://api.zopim.com/files/meshim/widget/controllers/LiveChatAPI-js.html#setDisableGoogleAnalytics

Hi Ramin,
This request isn't to be able to enable or disable the Google Analytics events already being sent. It's to implement Google Tag Manager dataLayer events on-top of what's already present to give me (and others) the ability to replicate the tracking sent to GA to other platforms such as Campaign Manager/Search Ads 360 in a way that doesn't cause huge discrepancies.

Got it. Currently, we have no plans in 2019 to open up the widget chat events to other providers or GTM. This may change in 2020, but nothin in the roadmap for this year.
