End-User New Message Notification

I am wondering if anyone has found a way to add some sort of indicator to the end-user that they have a new message when the widget is minimized? Although the asynchronous conversations through email are handy, our business would prefer not to have sales lost because a customer doesn't realize we've responded to their question before they've checked their email, and unfortunately a significant portion of our customers are not technically savvy to the point of understanding they would need to open the widget to see if there has been a response.

Would love to see this as a product enhancement.

Thank you for your suggestion!

If the widget has been minimised, then the end user should see an unread messages counter on the Web Widget launcher.  But I agree that it may not be enough to alert the end user.  We are actually thinking about sound notifications and have this on our roadmap for 2022.  Stay tuned for more on that next year!

Is this still anticipated to do and is this going to be for both Chat and Messaging?

Hi Morgan King,

Yes, end user sound notifications are still on the roadmap and are planned to be introduced into messaging in Q4 2022.  We don't have plans to work on anything in this space for Web Widget (Classic)/live chat.
