    Zendesk is a customer service ticketing platform that allows you to connect with your customers where they are, with capabilities to connect via email, phone, chat, knowledge and even social messaging (and then report on that data to track your progress over time)! 

    While you do need at least a basic subscription to get started, Zendesk can scale to meet the needs of the smallest startups to enormous enterprises.  Although it's pretty easy to configure out of the box, it can become a lot more powerful through enhanced customization & leveraging the API.
