Help Center Custom Theme #3 (PreLaunch Theme)
Plan Types: Team, Professional, & Enterprise
Time to Install: 5 - 10 minutes (mostly copying and pasting)
Welcome to my third Zendesk responsive theme named “PreLaunch”. Pre-Launch is a simple theme that you can use while you are building out your new Zendesk theme (hopefully one of my other responsive themes). This theme currently gives you a countdown timer along with the ability to submit tickets. This is a very simple theme and you only have to edit two pages of HTML. This theme is responsive and will work across many different monitor sizes including mobile phones. You can use this theme or any code in this theme however you would like. Enjoy!
If you’re looking for a modern theme for your Zendesk, then look no further. Or, if you just want to update your theme with some cool JS code I used, please feel free to do so.
Note: See my first custom theme here . See my second custom there here.
Download and use this theme
You can download theme from my GitHub account here .
Fork it, spoon it, do whatever you like. :-) https://github.com/moderatorwes/Pre-Launch
Instructions and screenshots are posted there, and you can currently see it live at http://moderatorwes.zendesk.com (I'm already working on the next theme so this will not stay up for long).
For any issues or bugs, please submit them via GitHub.
Thanks and enjoy!

I love the countdown, it looks really good when you go to your zendesk.

Looks awesome! though once the first image transition hit the page slows down to a crawl -- assuming this is pre-launch stuff :)
Really curious to see how this theme looks when you navigate articles. Very fresh design great job!

@Kristof - Thanks for the comment.
@Slavko - Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into a pre-loading script for the images and see if that speeds it up as I don't see any slowness on my end. At this time its only a Pre-Launch theme so it want have articles. This theme is a theme that you throw up while you are building out your real Help Center. However if I get enough people asking to make it a full theme then I will finish it up. Don't forget to vote this up and thanks.
-
Voted! Sounds great, I'm going to implement this on our HC while I work on building articles/sections etc. Though being in the broadcast industry I will have to switch up the images -- will post back results when I get a chance too.
Been following a lot of your work on here Wes - keep it up as its fantastic!
-
@Slavko - Post the link back here when you get it up and running. Just finished helping Tee Cartel get their theme up. https://teecartel.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
Just let me know if you run into any issues or need any help. Goodluck.
-
@Wes, thanks! One issue I ran into.. when submitting a ticket and writing the subject line -- it starts to filter out articles and if you click on them it loads a bit of a broken page -- see the example from teecartel.
I'll have some time today to mess around with it -- I'm sure we can disable the auto-instant results when submitting a ticket.
-
@Slavko - I've added an article page to my Github that will now show the articles. The ideal thing would be to remove the suggested articles however I've tried before and never could. I don't believe you are able to remove the suggested articles but I may reach out to someone at Zendesk to make sure.
I stripped alot of the article stuff like comments, etc out since this is a Pre-Launch theme. Copy and Paste my article page in and let me know if that will work for now. If you would like to see any changes just let me know as I threw it together very quickly.

This. Is. Gorgeous. Thanks, Wes!

Hi Wes, love this theme :)
I've made lots of tweaks as I wanted to configure it so end users could submit tickets, log in, and see their activities/requests as well as in our scenario we are not likely to have help content.
I was wondering if you can please help me figure out how to put back the 'customise design' option on the widget (plus the other options - arrange content, general settings)? it is a pain for admins and managers to currently have to remember the URL to get there :).
I've likely just missed something simple.
I was also wondering if you or anyone else knows how to change the font on the forms drop down 'before' selection'.
Many thanks,
Stash

Hi Stash - Glad you liked the theme. Let me play around a bit and see if I can get the customize design back in there for you. We may could also put a login in there for agents so that only agents would see the link or button. Just a couple of ideas. As far as the forms I assume you are referring to Ticket Forms. Can you give me some more details or a screenshot of the font you are wanting to change.
-
@Stash - With the help of Zendesk I was able to get the customize to show, it was a CSS setting that was hiding the Customize Theme. I've already updated my GitHub account with the change but you will need to do the following.
On the CSS tab (find line 270) and rem it out like below.
/*height: auto; */
That will fix that and just give me more info on the font and I'll take a look at that.
-
HI Wes, thanks so much, that did the trick!!! Sorry for my slow response, I've been away sick. I've attached a screenshot of the Forms drop down controller which is where I'd like to change the font to the theme font rather than the default font. Not sure if it can be done? It just looks a bit funny compared to the other theme font.
I was also wondering if you have a nice layout for the Request page and Request list page. I've been able to tweak the Request list page so a point its ok as wanted to use the same intro look and feel but as a much smaller header bar. The request page however looks funny, I enabled the side columns again which has helped but am a bit stuck with the remaining layout.
Thanks again,
Stash

@Stash - I don't have any layouts for the Request pages as this theme wasn't built for that. You should be able to take the pages that I have there and easily re-create those pages. Just wrap the pages with the div's that I used. I'll see what I can find on the fonts, you should be able to change them as I'm sure they are just using the default Zendesk fonts. If you use the default side columns then those pages will not be responsive as you will need to wrap them in the Div's.
So it would be something like
<div class="row"> <div class="eight columns"> This is the main content </div> <div class="four columns"> This would be for the side columns </div> </div> <!--end row-->

Thanks! for the theme. It looks great! There is one small issue. The phrase "We are trying our best to have the Help Center ready in:" cannot be read for some background pictures.

Hi,
I am having trouble getting the timer to work, I changed the date properly in the JS section several times with no success. Any ideas?
The site is: https://spartanglobal.zendesk.com
-
@Josues - I'm seeing an error in JS file.
//p4.zdassets.com/hc/theme_assets/562108/200051969/spartanracebackground.jpg
], {duration: 7000, fade: 750});Just delete the entire line above and it should get rid of your error.
