    Hey All,

This is something that is a part of the beta of a feature that we call Team Publishing. We just announced it last week. You can see the beta forum here.

    Thanks!

This would be a huge improvement for us as well! Currently, we have an IKB/EKB review process, but articles are taken down until the updates are approved.

    Adding my vote.

I think this is a basic need when you work with any non trivial updates to live content.

I just discovered that I can't do this! This is absolutely a basic need. We want one source for our articles. We would like to mark an article as draft which leaves the published version out there live while we make updates. Then when we publish the draft it replaces the old live version. We can't take the articles down while we work on them as these articles are our online help for a software app. Opps sorry we can't help you figure out how to use our app today? This will require a manual effort for version and publication control so that updated articles are available when the updates to the cloud app are available.

Marking as planned. "Articles to have Draft & Published versions simultaneously" captures perfectly what we intend to implement. We're hoping to begin work on this shortly.

@JakeHolman Thank you for putting this in your backlog. Please keep us posted on this feature. I desperately need this feature, especially when updating articles on product feature updates!

We're about to go through a major product transition entailing pervasive KB revisions (lots of edits before release); without this feature, this will be so laborious and error-prone.

Any update on this? We're seriously considering using a different KB software because of this feature.

It looks like it was marked as planned July 5, 2016, seven months ago. This is basic functionality. Is it still on the backlog?

    Hi all,

We are actually hard at work on this. Unfortunately it's not really trivial to build this. It's a massive change to the entire way that Help Center works because today every single save is saved to Help Center, which is why you always publish new changes. If we are to allow you to save without publishing, we need to change the entire data model to save it someone else rather than saving it directly in Help Center.

The current pattern that we've implemented is consistent with a lot of CMS'es like Wordpress, but we definitely understand that we need to change which is why we are currently working on it.

Unfortunately it's no quick fix because doing a significant change to the data structure of Help Center affects everything from APIs to embeddables and we need to ensure they continue to work.

I'll update here once we have a beta or other progress that I can share.

Glad to hear you are working on this and appreciate that it is no small task. Do you have a projected date for this work to be released?

    Hi Rebecca,

We don't yet have a projected date, but I will keep everyone posted here when we are close enough to know when we can release this.

This is a great idea. Our software development team does monthly releases which makes it difficult to update an existing article without that change being reflected immediately. Glad to hear that it is in the pipeline!

Hey - any update on this? As we are launching A/B tests and rolling out features, the ability to have multiple versions would make life so much easier.

    Hi all -

As Ryan indicated in his update from 12/18/17, this is currently in Beta. Since we're now collecting feedback in the Beta topic for this, we're going to close this thread for comments. You can still upvote and subscribe, and we'll continue to post updates here as things progress.
