We also need this. The parent categories need to be separate in the search scope. It currently only works when you're on the category page. If you go any further i.e. into a section or article, or within the search results page it searches all categories.

    +1

    Very vital.

@ZD Product Managers, please do let us know if there has been any progress on this thus far.

I also need this. Our HC only as 2 categories, but 1 category has 15 sections. Scoping to the category doesn't help very much, but it would be great if scoping to the section worked.

We also would like to have search based on a section by section basis.

Has any progress been made on this feature or have workarounds surfaced for doing this?

Damn - this would be a really useful feature if it worked the way it's supposed to!

The docs write: "scoped (optional, boolean) If scoped is true and the helper is on the category, section, or article page, searches only the articles in the current category. If the helper is on the topic or post page, searches only the posts in the current topic. Default is false."

I just tried while the helper was in the {{search}} element in the header. Thought "Aha!" and moved the search bar into the body of the article (in the article_page.hbs file). No luck there either =(

Another upvote here. Being able to scope search to a section would be great.
