Let me Lock elements together, or set them permanently to the front/back
Feature Request Summary:
I'd like to be able to set an object (such as a text box) to "Always at Front" or "Always at Back", or lock it in place until unlocked even, so that stray clicks don't mess up the order on carefully stacked items.
Description/Use Cases:
We are currently using a text field with the title of a query, and a link to the query, in place of the title so it's easy to actually view the query related to it. This means there's a lot of carefully stacked text fields and queries. It's exceedingly tricky to make sure that the ones you want to stay at the front, stay at the front, and vice versa.
Business impact of limitation or missing feature:
It would mean a lot less time adjusting all the text boxes every time you need to edit the Dashboard, and would prevent accidental re-ordering by people editing who don't realize they've hidden the linked report name field behind the query.

Hi @...,
Thanks for sharing your feedback about how widgets are placed on the dashboard.
I understand widgets could get easily hidden because of other elements placed on top.
We are working on an improved version of the dashboard builder that will allow to easily add and rearrange widgets on a single layer. This is to avoid overlapping elements and content being hidden by mistake.
We will roll out the first version to Enterprise customers only by the end of this quarter, we will then gradually open it to other plans as we move forward.
Thanks,
Walter -
Are there any updates on this? It's been some time but this feature hasn't rolled out.

Hi CJ,
The new Dashboard Builder in currently in Beta, although I'm not sure it accomplished what you've asked for here: What is the new Dashboard Builder and how do I use it? and How do I provide feedback for the new Dashboard Builder?
-
@... That doesn't look like the same feature, I agree. That feature looks different and isn't released yet. This feature was supposed to be in Beta testing over a year ago and rolling out to the Enterprise plans "by the end of the quarter" a year ago. I'm on Enterprise and still don't have this.

Hi CJ Johnson,
Thanks again for your interest.
I can confirm the new Dashboard Builder is available for all Enterprise customers. You can try it out by clicking "Try it now" in the Dashboards library. Here you can learn more about how to join the beta.
The new dashboard builder prevents components from being hidden because of a single-layer layout and an improved grid system that automatically aligns items.
I look forward to hearing your feedback.
Thanks,
Walter -
Hi Walter Bellante,
Unfortunately, it's only available to "Explore Enterprise" customers. While I'm on Enterprise for Support, I'm Explore - Legacy, so this feature is not available to me. Additionally, I don't see anything that would indicate you can lock elements together, so I'm not sure this EAP feature has what I'm after.

This is still marked "answered", but this is not available as a feature still.
-
Hi CJ -
The "completed" tag is what indicates features that have been delivered. The "answered" tag is applied to posts where a question was asked and an answer was supplied. This includes places where the answer is that a feature isn't available on a particular plan, or where the answer is that this is a product limitation.
That being said, the "answered" tag is not supposed to be used on feature requests - which this clearly is - so I'll go ahead and remove that status. -
Just an update: The beta for the new Dashboard builder does not include this feature, and this feature is not listed on the planned ones, either: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408830235930
In fact, it appears that including links at all may also be removed, and now you are not allowed to stack any elements, so the new version would break the only workaround I have.
