A few weeks ago I added a custom Paragraph Text field to my Contacts. I would conveniently have multiple bits of data stored in just one field. On the Contact page, the field would correctly display the following:
House 1: 18 Lake District
Total area: 100m2
Total valuation: £1,421,123
House 2: 19 Peak District
Total area: 120m2
Total valuation: £1,001,123
This is very useful when I don't want to create many separate fields (e.g. House 1, House 2, Total area for House 1, Total area for House 2, ...), especially considering some users could have 100 houses. That would mean I'd have to create 100 * number_of_fields_per_house = in this example 300 fields.
Now the Contact view page, for some reason, strips the newline characters (\n) and displays everything inline like so:
House 1: 18 Lake District Total area: 100m2 Total valuation: £1,421,123 House 2: 19 Peak District Total area: 120m2 Total valuation: £1,001,123
How is this an improvement? If I wanted a single-line field I would have chosen the Single Line Text field.
I contacted Zendesk Support and they told me this will be treated as "product feedback for review, which means that your input will be aggregated as a part of our Voice of the Customer program that provides customer feedback to our product development teams". How is this not a bug if the behaviour changed in the last couple of weeks?
At least give the option in the Customize Contacts page to choose whether I want to strip newline characters or not.
