Zendesk should create easier options to control metadata in links. Whenever I share links from our help center, I have no control over the link preview:

  • When I share a link in Slack, it doesn't unfurl. Others have noted this here, even though Zendesk's own help center links unfurl as expected in Slack. (Why? So suspicious!)
  • When I share a link on LinkedIn, it grabs the article author's avatar instead of our company logo in the og:image metadata.  This makes our knowledge base look really unprofessional.

Other CMS platforms figured this out long ago. For example, ReadMe makes it easy to enforce site metadata. I never experienced an issue with ReadMe link previews in Slack or LinkedIn. How I wish it were the same in Zendesk.

HTML blocks are wreaking havoc on my code blocks. I use an LMS to manage translations for Zendesk articles, and every time I import a translation back to Zendesk now, code blocks that use angle brackets get swallowed up by an HTML block.

 

Really not a fan of this feature.

Folks at my company are also asking why our help center won't show link previews in Slack. :( Would be helpful to know if Zendesk was doing anything about this.

We also experienced this for a few days. It seems to be resolved for now, but I can't be certain. :(

Update 2/7/24: This is still happening intermittently. Today I am encountering it on all browsers and my team asks me at least once a week why this is happening. I wish we had control over this - it's really frustrating because it keeps popping up.

We just switched to Zendesk from ReadMe and this really bothers our team. People are not happy about it.

I just discovered that you cannot create a default "No comments" setting for articles.

Not only is it annoying to update comment settings for each article in bulk, but the bulk update functionality doesn't always work correctly. If it doesn't refresh itself to show the correct list of articles, bulk update actions fail. It is doubly frustrating!

I encountered the exact same issue with the button tag that people are describing above.

In the article Editing the source code of help center articles, it says that the button element is considered an unsafe element. When I enabled the "Display Unsafe Content" option in Guide settings, the buttons stopped disappearing.

Unfortunately, the buttons still don't work as expected. I'll keep investigating this, but I'm surprised the first one bringing this up.

Rob Stack, can you help me understand how clicking on the button makes the text appear? Perhaps with more examples?

It would be so great to have the option to send notifications on updates to our changelog. I don't want to add each changelog update as a separate post because each update is small and it'd be inconvenient for users to click into each update to find out what happened.

I'm not sure what is going on with the plans to implement this, but please please please consider prioritizing this!
