    Hi Matt!

If you open your report up in GoodData (not in the Zendesk Interface - just click GoodData in the upper right corner of your Insights dashboard), you can click Show Configuration in the upper right corner of your report.

A configuration tray will slide out and you can drag and drop the values in your X and Y axis to appear in the order you wish.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hey Jessie,

Thanks for the input. The dragging and dropping appears to be an option on chart views, but not on tabular views (see the screen capture below.) It's also a fairly large table so I can't display it all on the screen.

Is there a way to recorder the column in table view?

    Hi Matt!

You should be able to drag and drop the column and row headers in a table. Here is a quick example of this in my test account:

You may also want to try removing a few of the HOWs or WHATs to allow the report to display on the screen so you can rearrange columns and shrink and expand them to make more room. Otherwise, you may need to export the data to a .csv or .xls file to manipulate the data in another program.

If you are having trouble with a specific report and you'd like one of our support agents to take a look please send us an email a support@zendesk.com and we'd be happy to help you out.

    Hey Karina!

Are you working on an Insights report, or a View in your Zendesk? If you could post a screenshot that would be super helpful!

I attach the page I work with Insights report I couldn't use View.

And I have other problem beside of order of columns, I scheduled this report but only I receive an email that said "the reports is too large...". There is other way to receive automatically this report. Maybe I can use any internal function to call it of our automatic schedule.

    I can limit the result.

    best regard,

    Karina

Can you guys look into the UI effects when there is a horizontal scroll involved? Whenever the horizontal scroll is present, no dragging and dropping is allowed.

    Hey Ziquan,

Dragging and dropping of columns should still be allowed when horizontal scrolling is present. I'm going to bring this into a ticket so we can look at what report, specifically, you're having trouble with! Look out for an email from me soon.

    Hi,

I am having the same problem when I try to move columns and a scroll bar is involved. I can move the columns at the beginning, but as soon as the scroll bar is touched, I am unable to move them again.

    Hi Ziquan and Paul,

GoodData had confirmed that they are aware of the drag & drop column reordering issue. Their product team is planning to re-design the report builder, which will fix this limitation. However, they don't have any estimate on when the project will be accomplished. Until then the only way around this is to shrink all report columns until the scrollbar disappears, reorder the columns, then resize the columns appropriately again.

    We apologise for the inconvenience.

It's almost exactly a year later, and the drag & drop reordering issue is still there.  If you need to scroll to see the row or column, you won't be able to reorder rows or columns.

In fact, the problem is much worse if you want to reorder rows.  With columns, you can contract them horizontally until they're small enough that you can fit a ton of columns in the available area, and reorder to your heart's content.  Rows do not allow vertical resizing at all, so that work-around doesn't work.

There is a way to work around this even for rows, but it's ugly and everyone here will tell you not to do it because there is a bit of risk involved.  Why?  Because it involves using the browser's development tools to forcibly increase the size of the table.

For those less faint of heart, here are my instructions for doing this in Google Chrome (the instructions will be similar for Firefox, etc.):

    1. Press Ctrl+Shift+i to open the Developer Tools
    2. Click on the Elements tab at the top if it's not already selected
    3. Press Ctrl+F to open the Find tool
    4. Type "gridContainerTab" to find the object that holds the row names
    5. Click on that line of HTML code to select it
    6. In the Styles window pane, under "#reportVisualizer #gridContainerTab", change the height to something much larger, like "1000px" (without the quotes)
    7. Press Ctrl+F to open the Find tool
    8. Type "analysisMetricsContainer" to find the object that holds the row names
    9. Click on that line of HTML code to select it
    10. In the Styles window pane, under "element.style", change the height to the same value as you did in step 6.

Unfortunately, after doing anything that causes the page to reload (such as moving one row to a new position), you'll need to do the steps above again because it will revert back to the default size

The web page contents are generated by a script, so there's no way to persist the changes.  It's frustrating, but workable.

Eugene, if you still work there, any ETA on the actual fix?

I want to filter by Month/Year which I have down. However, I also want to list the ticket date, when I do that it puts the dates across the top all in one row, meaning that each day of the month is a column. I want all the dates to go in one column next to the ticket.

When will this issue be resolved? Being able to reorder columns is a rather fundamental function for reporting purposes I would have thought..

John, your method didn't work for me, but I did manage to find a work around that did.

By changing the orientation, the preview appeared and then I could rearrange.  After they're in the right order, switch it back and then save.  The re-ordering stays.

    Hopefully this helps someone else.

    Hi team,

I have 17 "How" and couldn't see the table to adjust the order. I tried above suggestion, but still not working.
it seems like the issue is still there, could you please advise how to adjust it? Thanks.

I now have an issue where I cannot scroll left to right at all.

There are additional columns but i cannot scroll to see them. The vertical scrolling works fine to see the additional rows.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hey Steve,

Are you able to replicate this in another browser? What happens after you save the report? Are you still unable to scroll to see the rest of your results?

    Let me know!
