Attach files in Help Center article comments

    It would be even better, if you could attach different files to fifferent language versions / trnslations of the same article, so that you don't get a e.g. Spanish file on the English version of the article.

    Right now, all attached files are shown on all translations, which is irrelevant for the user.

    Extremely keen to migrate to Help Center from Web Portal.  Currently being held back as unlike Web Portal,  Help Center does not currently have the ability for users to attach files to articles. 

    Any Idea if and when this will be possible?

    Could you elaborate a bit on your use case? Would be interesting to hear what you are trying to achieve by allowing attachments on article comments.

    Sure Christian - We operate in the vehicle diagnostic space and have our web portal set-up as a forum where our user base can connect together and help each other out.

    One of the prerequisites of the forum space we require is for the users to post and share data files for the various vehicle they are working on, for other users  to modify and assist them with   in a good community space we are looking encourage for support. This is currently feasible in Web Portal, but would like to move to Help Center.

    Please let me know if you require me to be more specific.

    Thank you so much for providing us with information around your use case. That definitely helps us to understand why you need the feature and whether there are other potential ways of supporting it.

    Unfortunately I can't yet say when we would get around to adding this or if we ever will. I understand your use cases, but we need to assess the need among our other customers. When it comes to attachments there are some technical considerations especially around allowed content types that would have to look into. I am not saying we won't do it, but we just need to assess the necessity further before we can determine it.

    Until then I will leave it here for everyone else to vote and comment on.

    Vote for the ability to attach files in comments.

    In our cases, attaching pics would make it easier to help our users on the forum.

    Hi Vans,

    I'm curious as to whether you are requesting attachments in Community or whether you are requesting attachments in article comments? I would love to know some more around your use case, so if you could tell me in what situations your users have to attach files that can help us to understand the need.

    I would also appreciate being able to add attachments in forum posts.  In our previous forum, users were able to attach files to posts, thus allowing them to share example code or to demonstrate a particular customer problem.  Under the current system, attachments can only be made in the KB, thus limiting the usefulness of the forum.

    Another vote for this, we want our community users to be able to share reports, scripts and workflows they have created within our products with other users, using posts or commenting on posts.

    Just another vote for this.  It's slowing down our response to customers since they cannot simply attach documents that they are having trouble with.

    +1 Our users need the ability to upload PDFs in Community posts and comments to share best practice forms and policies.

    Is there a workaround for this?

    I can't seem to find this comment, as I know I have read it before somewhere else:

    Why don't Zendesk use the same editor in all places? Just take the one we have as agents and let it be the editor for 

    • articles and comments
    • forum posts and comments
    • Tickets in Support
    • Tickets in Guide (help center)
    • ...?

    +1 to be able to add attachments to community posts.

    We are a small team managing a large software project; we don't have the scale to address individuals through tickets, but we follow general trends in the community to see what needs to be addressed. It would be useful for us to have our users be able to attach files to their posts (e.g., log files for crashes, etc.).

    Maybe you could limit attachments to certain file extensions? For example, not sure how attaching a text file would be harmful...
