    Hey Sam -

We'll let the product managers know of your request, however at this point in time no further developments are planned for the Communities platform.

That being said, I sure hear you! We do a lot of redirecting people to existing threads.

    This is vital for us.

@zendesk how do you know what your own product development priorities are if there are so many duplicates being created? The feedback wouldn't be consolidated.

How are you managing these? I'm guessing posts/suggestions and votes are being deleted?

Will merging posts /votes be possible in 2019?

    Hi Justyne,

Thanks for your question. Tracking feedback posts from the community is definitely a challenge; we currently use the very high-tech solution of a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. :)

When duplicate posts are identified, we comment on the post directing the user to the existing thread, edit the title and add [Duplicate] to it, and then close the duplicate for comments so that other users who come across it will head to the existing thread. After 30 days we then move the duplicate into a topic that is visible only to agents and managers, effectively archiving it so that agents and Product Managers can still see it but keeping things more streamlined in the community for end-users.

We do not delete anything, rather, when it is completed, we link to the release announcement, mark the thread as "completed," and in the near future will then be moving the thread to another community topic for completed feature requests.

As far as what's coming in 2019, the answer right now is that we don't know yet. The great news is that the product team has let us know that development on the Communities platform will resume in 2019 (it's been in maintenance mode for ~2 years.) They are currently in the process of determining which features/functionality will be on that roadmap, so I encourage everyone to comment and vote on any Communities related threads that you'd like to see prioritized, or generate a new conversation for anything you'd like to see that hasn't been requested yet.

Thanks as always for your input, and let us know if you have any further questions!
