Extracting Custom Fields into a cloud database for reporting
回答済みHi all,
We currently run our reports in Good Data which we are starting to find a little too slow for the amount of data we are processing.
Due to this, we have now decided to run a small project whereby we plan on extracting Zendesk data into a cloud hosted data lake which we will then connect up with Tableau for faster analytics.
My question is - I see a list of the API's available to extract, but over the years business teams have created custom fields within Zendesk. Is there a way these can be extracted out also?
Or would said fields need to be created once more in the new front end?

Hi Andy! If you're planning to pull Zendesk data to your own database, I recommend the Incremental Exports API. Those endpoints are designed for ongoing data exports, and they include custom fields.
You can also side-load additional data. Side-loads are useful for connecting ID numbers from the incremental export to meaningful labels. The Insights connector is based on incremental exports with several side-loads, so you should be able to recreate the same data stream for your own system.
I hope this helps! Happy reporting!
