    The name of the locale (language + optional location) is a system text that is selected from the list of available locales that we support so it cannot be changed. This is because there is a lot of system copy that we maintain for all the supported locales. For example the language name is not shown as "German (Germany)" to end users, but it is shown in german as "Deutsch (Deutschland)":

    The ideal solution for the issue you are having seems to be to be able to change the language of articles in bulk, that way you could enable the "English" locale and change the locale of all your articles to "English". I will pass on your feedback to my colleague working with this area, but we cannot make commitments at this point to implementing a solution.

    For more clarity on the business impact of the issue, could you share a bit about why it is particularly important that the language is "English" and not "English (US)" for your use case?

    It is important for the sake of consistency. Now the menu looks like this:

    English (US)
    German
    French

    Only English has the part in parentheses.
