How is the site visitor country identified?
답변함It's always a thrill to see the impact of a recently delivered newsletter on the Zopim site visitor visualization page.
The above is one such moment where visitors are grouped by country. We operate in 4 Nordic countries - they are the small four toe prints above, the majority of visitors appear to be from the United States - the big group.
I suspect the newsletter links, for analytic purposes direct traffic via somewhere in the US before landing the visitor on our sites, and that explains why it looks like the majority of our visitors are in the US.
AM I crazy or is there some better explanation for this?

Hi Jacob,
Nice gif, looks like a bear paw print! Very interesting...
The visitor's country that is pulled for the visitor list and visualization tab is based on the visitor's IP address. Potentially, the ISP or visitor uses a VPN solution to give the visitor a US IP address?
Have you tried clicking on a couple visitors to see where they are located in more detail and if the IP address matches that region?
I don't know if the newsletter provider you use does some middle man caching that causes the traffic to appear from the U.S. Perhaps you can send their support team an email to see if they are doing something on their end?

I haven't tried to look closer at individual visitor's region, will try it the next time.
Thanks for the explanation Ramin!

Ok, I just had an opportunity to look at visitor details of our US visitors and they seem to all come from Ashburn, Virginia, United States, so I guess its either the newsletter provider or the CIA ;-)
