    Hey Mircea,

Looks like you're close. Try having the start of your metric be SELECT SUM( metric1+metric2+metric3 etc. )

Are these numerical custom fields, or text ones? I'm not sure how well Insights will handle adding text strings, vs adding numerical data.

    Hi Dan

    Thanks for jumping in.

    The fields are text unfortunately.

Using my method it does give some weird count.

It didn't work at all with SELECT SUM. I got this error

"Report not computable due to improper metric definition

This might be caused by a recent metric change.
More info: The numbers in the report cannot be broken down by all of the selected attributes (including attributes specified within a metric definition)."

    Hey Mircea,

Can you post the entire text of your metric, just to make sure? If the issue is in fact due to the data being stored as a string, rather than an integer (consider using numerical fields for numerical only data in the future) then you want to explore what's known as 'type casting'. Casting is the conversion of data from one format(string, in this case) to another (integer, which can be summed).

I haven't had a need to do this yet with GoodData, but I couldn't find an explicit example in their documentation. It's possible that GoodData support could answer how to cast a string to an integer in a metric very quickly for you, which would let you proceed with your report.

Let us know if you decide to contact them and what they come back with! Good luck!
