how to add an hyperlink in a chat message ?
RespondidaHello,
I asked your chat service how to add an hyperlink in a chat generate by trigger to my customer but it seems like its not possible for now ? That's a shame, we really need that sort of feature and I used to work on an other chat service with which it was possible and actually so much helpful.
I wish it will be a thing soon.
Thank you.
PS : CTA in those sort of message will be awesome too !

Hi Guillaume,
Thanks for sharing your request. Currently, you can include links in the trigger message and they will appear hyperlinked in the widget but you cannot hyperlink parts of the text to lead to a specific URL.
Currently, there are no plans to add this functionality for the remainder of 2018 but we may consider it for the 2019 roadmap.

Ramin - how do you do this? Is there a help artice about how to add a hyperlink in a trigger message?
-
Hi David,
If you include a properly formatted link in the trigger message, it should render as a clickable link automatically in the chat log.
There is no way to hyperlink a work to link out to somewhere, that functionality does not exist yet.

"Currently, you can include links in the trigger message and they will appear hyperlinked in the widget but you cannot hyperlink parts of the text to lead to a specific URL"
Can you please explain what you mean that they will appear hyperlinked?
Let me explain what i am trying to do: the triggered message should say "Can we help you? If you want to submit a quote, just click HERE". Is this possible?
-
You cannot achieve what you want. Instead, it would be something like this:
"Can we help you? If you want to submit a quote, just go to www.zendesk.com/chat".
The URL will be hyperlinked. If your URL is long, you can use a URL shortener.
-
Got it! How do I format the text to be a hyperlink?
-
The URL will hyperlink itself, you don't need to do anything. As mentioned earlier, you cannot hyperlink part of the text to lead to a specific URL.
-
Hello! Wondering if there has been any progress made towards allowing hyperlinks in live chats as opposed to pasting a huge, ugly looking URL link?
-
Hi Jessi,
There is no update to this request, you will best to use a URL shortener if it is something you are sharing often and can use it with the chat shortcut.

Ramin Shokrizadeh Sounds like zendesk does not listen to users' requested features. Otherwise it could at least integrate an Url shortener. Nobody likes too big link!
-
Sorry that you feel that way Orocube LLC, I can assure you its not our goal when we come in the office.
Most businesses that we have talked to prefer to use URL shorteners that is on a domain they control (from a branding and security perspective) or are already using a URL shortener service in their business (like bit.ly).
At this point in time, Zendesk has no plans to offer customers custom URL shorteners with that level of flexibility and customisation.
-
Ramin Shokrizadeh Thank you. I can understand zendesk does not like its own shortener. But I am still not convinced why we cannot get a name of link? This is a valid request hanging in the request list for long time.
say this is one long URL example> http:// developers.jollypad.com/fb/index.php?dmmy=1&fb_sig_in_iframe=1&fb_sig_iframe_key=8e296a067a37563370ded05f5a3bf3ec&fb_sig_locale=bg_BG&fb_sig_in_new_facebook=1&fb_sig_time=1282749119.128&fb_sig_added=1&fb_sig_profile_update_time=1229862039&fb_sig_expires=1282755600&fb_sig_user=761405628&fb_sig_session_key=2.IuyNqrcLQaqPhjzhFiCARg__.3600.1282755600-761405628&fb_sig_ss=igFqJKrhJZWGSRO__Vpx4A__&fb_sig_cookie_sig=a9f110b4fc6a99db01d7d1eb9961fca6&fb_sig_ext_perms=user_birthday,user_religion_politics,user_relationships,user_relationship_details,user_hometown,user_location,user_likes,user_activities,user_interests,user_education_history,user_work_history,user_online_presence,user_website,user_groups,user_events,user_photos,user_videos,user_photo_video_tags,user_notes,user_about_me,user_status,friends_birthday,friends_religion_politics,friends_relationships,friends_relationship_details,friends_hometown,friends_location,friends_likes,friends_activities,friends_interests,friends_education_history,friends_work_history,friends_online_presence,friends_website,friends_groups,friends_events,friends_photos,friends_videos,friends_photo_video_tags,friends_notes,friends_about_me,friends_status&fb_sig_country=bg&fb_sig_api_key=9f7ea9498aabcd12728f8e13369a0528&fb_sig_app_id=177509235268&fb_sig=1a5c6100fa19c1c9b983e2d6ccfc05ef .. Instead of a misleading long url a much readable were a link name "Jollypad Dev" with link color/underline. I also used one chat service before who had this simple yet useful link name. -
Orocube LLC agree that rich text formatting, including hyperlinking of text, is a valid request and should be something we support eventually. Unfortunately, the way Chat is built today does not support the storage of rich text information but we are looking to resolve it in the future with our omni-channel agent experience in the coming quarters.
If and when we having something to share with you, we will let you know here.

This would be very high on our request list, and it's disappointing that ZenDesk doesn't seem to care very much about bringing its chat functionality up to speed with the rest of its platform.
-
This is also very high on our request list. I've been disappointed with Zendesk Chat for a few reasons, this would be a top concern.

I share the sentiment that the current way to send the pure URL in a message is not enough.
I currently work on a chatbot implementation with the Zendesk web widget and realized that this limitation concerns also the Chat APIs. As a result, there is not really a good way to send links from the Zendesk knowledge base to customers in a chat message. In our case, we would like to present the clickable title of an article in the customer's language instead of the hard to read pure url.
At the moment I try to use the button template for this purpose, however, as you can see in the following screenshot, the article titles are cut off and are only fully visible when you hover the mouse pointer above a link:
Since the other structured message types have similar limitations, I can only conclude that you want to reserve this feature for your own answer bot integration where you offer these possibilities already:

Yeah, I agree with the rest of commenters here - adding a hyperlink to a particular text on chats is crucial. Not to mention this is implemented on countless chat solution alternatives.
