Issue symptoms
After connecting Zendesk to Microsoft Power BI, this error message appears: The
downloaded data is HTML, which isn't the expected type. The URL may be wrong
or you might not have provided the right credentials to the server.
Resolution steps
To resolve this error, follow the steps below:
- Call the Global OAuth Clients endpoint and get a list of the clients.If the client shows
ID

, you are using the previous Power BI connect made by Microsoft, rather than the connector from Zendesk. - List the tokens under the Zendesk profile, used to install the connector. A call to the previous client would look like this:

Revoke the token using the value from the
ID
attribute. This will allow Power BI to request a new token from the Zendesk connector. - Once the connection has been cleared, install the Power BI Connector by Zendesk (Beta).
