Let me re-assign dashboard ownership
Completed
Posted Feb 11, 2021
I would like to be able to hand over ownership of a dashboard. For example, if I am a backend builder, I shouldn’t be the owner of the dashboards I build out for each team lead. I’d like to have team leads own the dashboards I build for them, so that the "owned" dashboard section is useful/meaningful for them.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the ownership of dashboards built with Explore.
We understand how important it is to control your dashboards, especially when someone leaves the company.
I am glad to share that we have shipped a feature to empower admins to see and edit all dashboards, regardless of who created them.
This feature is available in the "All" tab of the dashboard library and is accessible to admins only. You can learn more about this feature here.
Regards,
Walter

This is still not a feature, but I'm still interested in being able to do this.

2nd this, this is especially important for when people change roles and no longer have access. Also as admins we should be able to see all dashboards no matter the case.

How is this still not a feature?

+1 to this! There's a noticeable gap in ZenDesk's documentation surrounding this topic, and a major gap in what Admins can see / adjust in Dashboards on behalf of other users.
When a colleague with little Explore experience needs a quick fix to a Dashboard, it's challenging for me to try and chase down who the owner of that Dashboard is, or to walk the user through how to share that with me so that I can assist.
My team relies heavily on me to have access to all the same Queries and Dashboards they do and to be able to adjust ownership settings like these, so that I can provide immediate help with their day-to-day.

+1 as I recently went through this and had to hop on a Zoom to show the agent where the clone button was.
Something like SuperAdmin access is needed in Explore for reporting and dashboards.

I have been trying for over a month to ask Zendesk Support to change ownership on dashboards. I have been unable in this time, to get a direct answer if they can even do this for an account. Cloning is not a solution for me because that does not share the clone with the same people, and changes the links, which are already widely shared. I just need to change ownership. :(

Even though the work around is to clone the original dashboard by the new owner to get the ownership, this would not be feasible always especially if multiple dashboards need to have the ownership change. I doubt the business teams would have enough time to perform this kind of workaround.
Hence I strongly request Zendesk product team to incorporate the ownership transfer admin feature with multiple dashboards selection.

+1 We really need this feature to get added. As companies grown employees move and we have lost access to some very necessary dashboards. I came on as an admin and do not have access to even view dashboards that were once built by people who left the company.

This is clearly a much requested feature and does not appear that it should be difficult to implement. As many noted, cloning a dashboard does not always create what we need. Please add this to your roadmap!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback and others here on this thread for your thoughts and engagement.
I wanted to share the exciting news that this feature has been released - please refer to Walter's official comment from January 2024 where he announces the release of this feature. While you may have already seen this announcement, we wanted to close the loop here for others who may come upon this post. Please view this documentation here to learn more about the feature.
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for being a valuable Zendesk Community member.

Hi Emily Reidy ! Thank you for sharing the update release for the View All feature. I do still think the ability to change ownership of dashboards is a needed feature as well even more since dashboards cannot be scheduled in definitely (given the dashboard builder update) as they used to be and the appropriate owner will receive the notification of expiring dashboard schedules.
