Apply Macro Bar requires an extra click
Posted Sep 01, 2021
Recently the Apply Macro bar started to require an extra click before you could type. This has become an annoyance to my team, like a fly that is in your bedroom. Before you would just click once on the Apply Macro bar and start typing. Now it is one click to bring up the bar and then another to start typing. It is small, yes, but it's really throwing us out of our rhythm. Is there a way to stop that need for an extra click.

Hi Jahmal,
I can see how that would be frustrating, I've just tried to reproduce the issue in my own account, but was unable to.
If you changed browser or installed a plugin recently, that might have some influence here.
Is it the same for you if you use the keyboard shortcut?
Ctrl + alt + m

We have a mixture of macs and pcs so some use Chrome and others use Safari and this issue happened to my entire team's zendesk. The shortcut is an ok workaround. Will take time to work it into the muscle memory. Just wish there was a fix for that extra click issue

Hi Jahmal,
Since I can't reproduce your issue, I think it is not a change introduced by Zendesk, but something else. If you reach out to Zendesk Support, they should be able to help you find the cause and hopefully resolve it.
Still, irrespective of this I do recommend putting in the time to learn the most frequently used tasks, like "updating ticket with status" and "opening up the Macro search" by keywords - it is an investment in time that pays off 😀

This is also happening to our entire team. Mixture of Macs and PCs, all are using Chrome. And the Ctrl+Alt+M shortcut only worked the very first time I tried it and will no longer open the Macro dropdown.

Hi Jennifer! I went ahead & created a ticket on your behalf so we can look into your account & see what could be causing the issue. Please expect an email from us soon!
