Sending a Scheduled Report in Explore

Planned

Posted Dec 19, 2019

Zendesk Explore only allows you to schedule the sending of Dashboards, when we need to be able to send specific Queries only. For example, we have some information that is contained in one query that we need to regularly send to users as part of their weekly follow-up processes. The only work-around is to create an entire Dashboard just with that query so we can get the data to the users. This is going to cause us to have to create a large number of unnecessary Dasbhoards just to get a Query (report) out to people.

This is a gap in the product, as Insights currently allows you to schedule reports (query) only.

Please enhance Explore by allowing individual queries to be set up via scheduled emails in the same way we can with Dashboards.

Another vote for this functionality. I would think that this would benefit a large number of your customers, they just don't know this thread exists to add their voice to the conversation.

I really hope the Product team reconsiders.

When an agent report is created in Explore, we cannot schedule a monthly report to be sent to each agent to remind them to 1) verify their articles with a list of those articles or 2) publish all the draft articles they own.  This is a necessary report. Will this functionality be added to Explore?

I would love to see this added as well!

I use dashboards for overview of the support, while some reports that I need are super detailed. It doesn’t make sense to create a dashboard for only one query.

2 YEARS people have asked for this.

Do you all ever move any requests to production. We have data that needs to be exported as a CSV daily out of Zen to a server directory to be ingested into our accounting system. HOW?

Thank you for voting for this feature request and sharing your use cases.

The ability to schedule email deliveries of individual reports is one of the features we are looking forward to releasing.

Currently, we are working on the new reporting experience that we plan to release in the first half of 2023. One of the long-term goals of this project is to make sure that this new experience will transform reports into self-sufficient artifacts that can be shared and scheduled separately from the dashboards. We are working towards this goal but it might take a few years to fully fulfill it.

Hope this helps to set the right expectation.

Thank you for the update in November. The plan was to release the new reporting experience in the first half of this year; has that been done?

Iris Edwards, yes the new reporting experience is available as a closed beta at the moment. You can find more information here - Announcing a closed beta for the new Explore report builder

We are still working on adding more functionality to the new version of the report builder. The ability to schedule reports will eventually be part of it but we will not have the bandwidth to work on this feature this year.
