Feedback on @mentions in Zendesk's Community
Zendesk Community Manager
Posted Oct 01, 2019
We enabled @mentions in our community today! While we're super excited to have this functionality, it is new and we know it might not be perfect. So please, let us know how it's going and what feedback you have.
Please tell us:
- What the unexpected or undesirable behavior is
- What you were trying to do when you encountered it
- How you would expect it to work
- You can also tell us what you like!
If you haven't tried @ mentions yet or want more info on the functionality, check out the @mentions in the Zendesk Community announcement.

Hi,
We noticed that the @mention functionality also shows users in the suggestion list that are suspended. Expected behavior would be that suspended users cannot be referred to with @mention.

Thanks for that feedback @.... I think that makes sense and it's likely just an improvement that we've missed. We'll analyze this a bit more and hopefully get to work on it.

Hi @... and Nicole, when I try to tag you, I get a very long list of suggested names similar to yours, specially with you Nicole :P I struggled to tag you.
Let's say I want to tag a user named John, but my community has 100 Johns. Is there a quick way to tag the right John in a specific thread without having to see the list of all Johns in the community?
Thanks!

Hi Gabriel -
Yes, several users have commented on how hard it is to tag me. Usually you need to type out "Nicole - Comm" before it successfully starts autofilling my name. I may adjust how my name displays so it's easier :)

Hi all, especially @...,
Just wanted to let you know that we have updated the @-mentions functionality to no longer include suspended users!
