Change default ordering for community
Not Planned
Posted Nov 03, 2015
Default ordering for community topics is by topic creation date. This is very inconvenient as older topic won't be shown on the first page even if people posted to it. You have to select "sort by activity" first to find these topics. Our users would like to have this as the default option. While there might be other Zendesk users that like it how it is, it should be possible to set the default sorting either in the backend or in a template.

We would like to have different defaults for each "room" in our community. For example, we would like the default sort-order for the "Feature Requests" room to be by number of votes for all users who visit that room. Other rooms we would prefer to have defaulted to "by most recent activity."

Has anyone ever figured this out? I'm still searching for a proper solution to change the default sort order of Community posts.

Same here. Need to be able to change the default view.

In the same boat, I would like to have the default sort order be by Recent activity rather than by Newest post.
I know users are able to change this, but still would like to set the default behavior for everyone.

Thanks for the feedback, Jamison. This has not been prioritized as of yet, but we'll continue collecting votes and comments from everyone, and the PM for Zendesk Communities is aware of the request.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. I apologize for the delay on our end in providing you with a response to your feature request.
I wanted to let you know that at this time we are not able to commit to building this feature. I understand this may be frustrating but wanted to ensure we closed this loop to remain transparent.
At this time I am going to close this post for comment and mark it as “not planned”. If you are interested in learning more about this and other features being built please make sure to check out and follow our Community events, What’s New Community Topic, and Zendesk Updates. Again, I apologize for our delay and appreciate you being valuable Zendesk Community members.
