Allow articles to be posted to multiple sections
Posted Jun 29, 2012
It would be super awesome if we had the ability to post a single article to multiple sections. We have a number of different "buckets" that our customers fall into that each have their own specific section. We often times write articles that are german to more than one group of customers but not all groups of customers. As it stands currently we have to write the article, post it to one section, copy it, navigate to a different section and post the article, navigate to a different section and post the article, navigate to a different section and post the article, and then navigate to a different section and post the article. This is also a huge pain because that one article now has 5 different URLs and becomes a nightmare for updating and linking in our marketing materials and / or website. It would be much easier and efficient if we could choose to post an article to multiple sections (even if it were still separate URL's for each).

Also still very much interested in this feature! Maintaining a product guide with multiple modules where many articles may apply to each module, so adding an article to multiple sections would be an amazing addition!

I am a bit surprised that this is not implemented already.
When can we look forward to this?

Hi Gitte -
The EAP for this has been delayed slightly, but is still planned for the first half of 2019.
In the meantime, the EAP for Flexible Hierarchies for those on Guide Enterprise is currently available, and that is the precursor to being able to post to multiple sections.
We'll continue to keep you updated as things progress!

We are currently working on redesigning our help center and this is exactly what we need in order to provide the best experience. Looking forward to its release.

Any updates on where this is? We're migrating our content and not having this feature is going to cause problems.

Hi everybody,
we'll soon start working on a feature that will help with this use case - albeit not exactly publishing the same article in different sections. We call it "Reusable content" and it's about articles sharing a block of content that is updated centrally. This means that articles placed in different sections will be kept in sync without the need to edit them individually. This is planned for a Q2 EAP.

Bogdan - Is Reusable Content only going to be for Enterprise, like Flexible Hierarchies?

Hi Kirsten,
not 100% sure at this point but it seems like it's going to be part of a bunch of Guide Enterprise features to be launched this year - so yes.

@Bogdan - Can it PLEASE not be just in Guide Enterprise? This is something we've all been asking for for over 6 years now.
This could work like how reusing Forms in all/some Brands works now. Or which Groups can use certain Macros, etc.

Hey Brad,
I'll make sure to share the feedback with the decision makers, it is indeed something people are concerned with.

@Bogdan please add my voice along with @Brad for the "decision makers" to consider both "multiple sections" and "reusable content" for Guide Professional.
While I understand the need to reserve certain functionality as added value in a tiered subscription model, the number of comments, and the span of time over which this feature has been repeatedly requested, suggest that it should be considered more as standard functionality and made available to a broader group of customers.
Thank you!

For sure this needs to be core functionality!

+1 on making this core functionality!

Yep. I'm on board as well. It's very frustrating making several of the same articles in different sections.

Concur with those above about this being core functionality and should not be something reserved only for Enterprise customers...
Expected basic functionality is not "Enterprise" functionality, Zendesk. :|

ZD Support - any update on when this feature might be available? This would be HUGE for us. Thanks!

Hey Jessica -
The team is working with this and planning to launch an EAP in the near future, but we don't have any dates we can share at this time.

+1 We believe that this would be a really helpful core feature across all plans. Please add our support to this feature being available to all! Will we be updated here when this feature is available?

@Thomas Joussot You might have to! ;) 7 years and counting.

@Mark, haha right! Actually "first half of 2019" is close now so I really hope they will announce it soon!

@Thomas Unfortunately, there have been a good few hints of potential release timeframes over the years but all have been missed, so I'm not holding my breath.

Hi all - I've pinged the product team for an update on timelines. We do always have the caveat that ETAs mentioned in the community are not firm and may change without notice, but we will see if we can get any additional clarity for you.

Hi all,
the team is working on this project right now, but we don't have a specific timeline at this time. We'll update the thread when we are certain we can commit to a date.
Thanks!

Hi all,
I'm a bit shocked that this feature is not available yet. So a very big: Yes please!

We are just starting out with Zendesk Guide, but this thread is concerning.
7 years to change this field to allow multiple selections:
And no result yet, or in the foreseeable future.
Should we still hope or move on?
