Explore and Slack

Posted Jun 13, 2022

It would be great to be able to share individual reports or dashboards to Slack on a pre-determined basis to be able to easily keep other teams updated in a more collaborative fashion than email.

Is there any way to do this (without paid apps) or is this something that is planned?

Hi Peggy,

To share an Explore dashboard with end-users, it's a requirement that they are added as end-users with login credentials. I completely understand the inconvenience of having to log in to an end-user account to access the dashboard. However, I'd like to explore whether sharing the dashboard outside of Zendesk could be a viable solution for your needs. This can involve creating a public link that doesn't require login credentials. It's important to note that the data displayed on the dashboard may vary depending on the time when the report is viewed.

Hello! I wanted to follow up on this as I had some difficulties setting this up for my workspace in a slack channel, and wanted to see if anyone had any support with getting this to be a bit more seamless.

When I went to set up a scheduled send in Explore, I had to create a new end user with the email address of the slack channel, since I didn't see a way to just simply send it to an email as it had to be to a Zendesk account. This is where I had some dificulties as I was completely logged out of my support Zendesk account and was logged into the new end user account and lost access to anything. The only way I was able to get back in was through my companies 3rd party log in service.

So the questions I have:
- Do I have to fully set up the end user account with a password or can I just create it with an email and schedule the send to it.
- Is there a way to send a dashboard to an email without setting up an end user account?

Thanks in advance :)

In Slack, you can receive e-mails into any #channel. Click the Channel name-> Integrations->Send Emails to this channel to get a mailbox address.  Then set up Explore dashboard schedule to send to this mailbox.
