Drill in feature in Guide dashboard doesn't work

Posted Feb 28, 2023

The drill in feature is limited on the Guide dashboard. The feature only displays the numerical value associated with the metrics that the graphs display, so it doesn't give any additional details as it should, and as it does on Support dashboard.

Hence I request to have additional datapoints available when drilling in on graphs that appear on the default Guide dashboard.

Thanks for the feedback Sini Juntunen (EMEA partner),

We are constantly collecting feedback about the dashboards and areas to improve. Can you be more specific about which chart did you use the drill function on and what was the data you missed?

Cheers!

Hi Orsolya Forster,

Thanks for your comment!

All the charts in Guide Dashboard gives the same result, when selecting the Drill in option in them. They are missing all the additional datapoints. I asked about this from Zendesk Support, and they said that unfortunately this is the default setup for Guide Dashboard, and the only thing we can do is to send this feedback and request of having any additional datapoints in the future.

We are very interested in this feature as well as our instance is multibrand. Having the ability to link through Explore to the drilled in comment on the article, the article itself, and any drafts of the article would be extremely helpful. (Similar to the Support dashboards that allow one to link to tickets after drill in.)

Our use case is that due to our multi-brand nature with hundreds of guide articles, it adds a lot of extra time to go through Guide admin to find items. In the case of comments, per Support is not possible natively without using custom code and developers.

Thank you for considering improving the functionality of the Guide dataset/dashboards.

Hi, the detailed drill-in feature is needed because the Dashboards often only present summarized or aggregated data to provide a quick overview. However, the drill-in function allows our users to explore specific data points or subsets to perform a more detailed analysis. For example,  When an issue is identified in the dashboard's summary, the drill-in feature helps users investigate the root cause and find the exact ticket and assignee for further discussion. It will be very helpful if we have this functionality enabled in the future. Thanks
