Track Attachment Downloaded via Audit logs

Posted May 09, 2023

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to know if/when an attachment was downloaded by someone.

Looking at the audit logs api looks like there are only the following possibilists, and none for attachment downloads:

  • create
  • destroy
  • exported
  • login
  • update

Is there any other view of knowing this information?

Thanks

Hey Friends, Audit Log and Access Log PM here -- I've just noticed this message and wanted to state that you CAN get this information through Access Logs which is available via our Advanced Data Privacy & Protection add-on. This covers GET information, which would indeed be what you see when an attachment is accessed :)

There is no UI for this as of yet, but is something we've planned, so please let us know in the feedback forums if there is something we should prioritize FIRST.

Here is our API reference document: https://developer.zendesk.com/api-reference/ticketing/account-configuration/access_logs/

Hi Maria! This is not possible because the attachment isn't a change being made to the ticket, it is simply a download of an attachment object that is connected to the ticket. At this time there is no way to track this information on your end, however if you have security concerns, you can reach out to our Advocacy team and they may be able to search the logs for the information you're looking for. Note that it is not guaranteed that they could identify this and it would have to be from the last 30 days for that to even be possible.
