Could Zendesk offer a way to include our live chat script in Shopify's new checkout?

Your clients don't have a way to include custom code anymore in the checkout pages with the new checkout extensibility, so we're hoping to continue being able to offer live chat through an official Zendesk app,

Greg Katechis Following up on this as I have the exact same question! You guys have the Shopify app for Zendesk available here: https://apps.shopify.com/zendesk

Shopify is sunsetting their original checkout and moving to something called checkout extensibility. This essentially means that we will no longer have access to the straight up checkout code (so we can't just paste in Zendesk code), and instead, we have to add content through something called checkout extensibility. Extensions are created so that content can be added to checkout. This has to be done via a third-party app. I'm wondering if Zendesk is planning on transitioning and creating a checkout extension? Otherwise, no Shopify users are going to be able to use Zendesk in checkout once the old checkout sunsets.

Hi Greg, Shopify currently supports custom checkout though checkout.liquid, but they're sunsetting this in August and replacing it with an app-based checkout called checkout extensibility. This eliminates Shopify users ability to add custom code directly into their checkout which is where we'd usually put the code snippet that launches the Zendesk widget. My team has tried to add the code in the web pixels sandbox, but we can't get it to work. Does Zendesk have any other methods of implementation that will work with checkout extensibility?

Hello all, great questions on here - and thanks for pointing out the need here! There is actially an upcoming version of the “Shopify Premium for Zendesk” app (https://shopifypremium.com) that our team at agnoStack put together in partnership with Zendesk. It will have a ton of new customer facing functionality (in addition to all of the existing agent facing tools on the Zendesk side) that can be toggled on with a single click. Hello, i have the same issu. It's incredible that they still haven't developed their system for Shopify checkout... At the price of their product and this since 2023. This is really unfortunate and we have had to change our customer support system.
