Feature request: annotate over top images in articles
Posted Jan 29, 2024
Hello:
We would like to be able to paste images into articles, then annotate over top of the image (add boxes, arrows, text, etc.) Similar to the 'New drawing' feature in Google docs (which is the current source of our product documentation that we are trying to port to Zendesk Guide).
I understand the article editor does not have this yet. Would be very useful for us!

Seconding this and agree with the impact “all the time, every day” 24/7. We'd have a lot more flexibility when working with articles if we had a very simple function to crop and add circles/lines/arrows within the article editor and that would save the image/diagram within the existing Media Library for labeling and re-use.
As the original poster said, we are currently using Google Docs and manually importing into Zendesk as a “last step”. The two sources of articles aren't connected in any way and so we can't make use of any of Zendesk's features (review, approval, image re-use, etc). Simple image editing would bring us one step closer to being able to actually use Zendesk for its intended use. Thanks!

Thank you Shawna. I don't see a form as such, but here are answers to the questions in your mentioned post:
TITLE: Image annotator in the article editor
Please give a quick overview of your product feature request or feedback and note who in your org is affected by this issue [ex. agents, admins, customers, etc.]. (2-3 sentences)
We would like to be able to paste images into articles, then annotate over top of the image (add boxes, arrows, text, etc.) Similar to the 'New drawing' feature in Google docs (which is the current source of our product documentation that we are trying to port to Zendesk Guide).
We are impacted, because without this we have to maintain the drawings in an external toll (like Google Docs or Inkscape), and then know to keep that updated and paste into Zendesk Guide.
This is particularly problematic for us since we have over 100 existing articles in a Google doc with 100+ drawings that do not copy/paste at all (only images copy/paste from Google docs into the Zendesk article editor).
What problem do you see this solving? (1-2 sentences)
Agent team is working late and they are hungry, but the ticket queue is too high for any of them to leave and get pizza. This button would allow for a quick click, confirmation, and order without having to leave your desk. Customizable order templates for each employee would also be amazing!
When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool? What happened? How often does this problem occur and how does this impact your business? (3-4 sentences)
All the time, every day. It's a serious road block for us to not be able to add annotated images into our articles.
Are you currently using a workaround to solve this problem? (If yes, please explain) (1-2 sentences)
Yes, we can use an external tool as noted above, but then Zendesk Guide is not the single source of content and it's difficult to maintain.
What would be your ideal solution to this problem? How would it work or function? (1-2 sentences)
As noted, a drawing tool identical to Google Docs Drawings would be ideal.
