Using email instead of Zendesk ID

Working on importing tickets into Zendesk and keep running into the problem of needing Zendesk IDs to mark authors of comments and owners of tickets. Is it possible to reference using the email address of the author instead of making another request to get the ID of the user?

Hi Austin,
 
To set properties like the comment author, the ID of the user is needed.  I recommend importing or requesting necessary user data first to allow you to map the user to any ticket data you're importing.
