Ability to delete content block in bulk
Posted Apr 21, 2024
We need the ability to delete a content block that will automatically remove it from all guides that it exists in. It is a laborious task to have to delete from each guide manually and then delete the content block.

Hi Lisa Hayday , thank you for your feedback. The reason it is not possible at the moment is that deleting a content block and removing it from all published articles at the same time might be potentially dangerous for these articles content (it will remove pieces of text and might leave the articles in a nonsensical state). As the deletion is permanent we believe that additional manual verification is necessary in this case.

Hi Katarzyna Karpinska. I do understand what you are saying but to negate this it should be a choice. If you have over 900 guides like we do, manual verification is tedious when we know what we want to do and understand the impact our change will make.

Manually going into the content block, determining everywhere that it exists, removing it from those articles, and then deleting the content block from its editor seems to contravene the concept of single-sourcing. Being able to delete a content block at the source and having it automatically prune from all related articles is functionality that MadCap Flare has had for years. We really need this functionality in Zendesk as well.
