French translations are horribly confusing

Posted Aug 30, 2024

Hi,

as a Zendesk partner we help and support many Zendesk clients in France mainly.

Please reconsider 2 french translation which are very confusing:

  • Email channel translated to Messages : because no one uses Message for speaking about an Email in France, if anything Message is used for SMS. As well, Messages is so close to Messagerie (Messaging) which also makes it super confusing. Please consider translating Email by …. Email ! why complicating ?
  • Name field translated to Nom : because in english Name involves the complete name (first name + last name), but in France Nom implies only the last name. Therefore, people just fill their last name on the field and it turns out to only have last names and make the placeholders not working (ex : ticket.requester.first_name). We do have to use often a custom field asking the full name, to replace the user name with a trigger and a webhook, when something easy could fix it.. Please consider translating Name by Nom complet

Thank you all for your engagement here. I wanted to make a public follow up here that we have accepted the "email" translation and not accepted the "name" translation request. We appreciate your time to help us improve our translations, please keep them coming! At this time I am going to close this post for comment since this has been reviewed and resolved by our team. Cheers!
