Pre-set messages/content when starting a new chat
Posted Jan 25, 2025
Hi all,
We would like to be able to invoke the Web Widget with additional context when starting/opening.
When we open the chat box with
window.zE('messenger', 'open');
window.zE('messenger', 'show');
window.zE('messenger:set', 'conversationFields', ....
And it would be very helpful if we could do something likewindow.zE( 'messenger:set', 'XXXX', 'Show me more about YYYY')
To start the user's conversation with contextual details already supplied and prepared.
Common scenarios where this is appealing would be:
- The user is on a “Update Subscription” page, to suggest articles on pricing
- The user is on a “Upload images” page, to suggest articles on suitable images to upload
- The user is on a “Configuration/Settings” page, to suggest articles about the settings page they are currently seeing.
We would like to be able to expose additional contextual information when chat box is invoked, rather than the user having to type in context about what page they're on. Being able to prepare+send the first message the “user” types in would solve a lot of headaches for the users.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Wulf
