Add a "Clear Format" button in the help center article editor toolbar
Feature Request Summary:
One ubiquitous and critical button in pretty much all other WYSIWYG tool bars is confoundingly missing here: clear formatting.
Description/Use Cases:
So much of our documentation starts elsewhere for necessary real time collaboration -- especially Google Docs. Pasting over from a different word processing or CMS platform inherently carries over non-conforming formatting that needs to first be removed, and then have the correct format applied in the Guide editor.
Business impact of limitation or missing feature:
Absent the ability to highlight all and clear formatting all at once, this has to be dealt with in html. It is not enough to just apply formatting directly over the spots where it appears to be wrong, especially since the text does not always appear in the editor exactly as it will when published. This means one has to go into the html source view and meticulously remove unwanted and problematic formatting artifacts (DIVs, SPANs, etc.) line by line. It is incredibly tedious and time-consuming.

I agree with this feedback! In our instance, users very often are copying from other sources and thus carrying over formatting that may not be visible to them unless going into the Code/HTML editor. This feature would be a huge improvement towards driving consistency in how the content appears when the article is published.

Thank you both for your comments. We will continue working on improving our editors' WYSIWIG in the coming quarters. I'll make sure we'll look into this request as well.
