Changes on custom fields

We are using custom fields and views to structure our data. Since the first set up we applied some changes to the respective fields. Some fields are just renamed, others are deleted and new once are added. 

What is happening with historical data (e.g. closed tickets created one year ago) in terms of these fields? Are tickets reassigned?

Hi Julia,
if you add or remove fields, it will have a retroactive effect even on your closed tickets. For instance, if we add a checkbox field, and then we add it to the main form, when you look at a closed ticket, you should see the field inside that ticket. However, you cannot interact with it due to the fact the ticket is closed.

The same happens when you remove a field. You can deactivate a field and this field will not be shown on your tickets (retroactively). However, if you decide to delete the field, then all the data associated with it will be lost forever.
