Conditional text by version rather than user segment. User can choose.
Feature Request Summary:
Description/Use Cases:
For example, click v17 and the v17 version of the text appears, and click v18 and that version appears. Same topic but conditional based on user interaction. This was a recent addition to Robohelp -- Writer applies conditional tags. All the text appears in the output. User picks what filters to use -- which then determines what content and topics appear. This is a big trend in information architecture -- tailoring content to the user.
Business impact of limitation or missing feature:
We maintain different versions of documentation because are users are not forced to upgrade to the next version at the same time. We have over 400 customers and usually have 2-3 versions going at once. One version supported (bug fixes but no updates to doc), one version current (bug fixes and small enhancements), and a gamma version (brand new gets major enhancements and bug fixes, doesn't become officially "current" until 2/3 of customers using) This could save us hours of work not having to ensure we maintain two different articles for every version of the documentation.
