Answer Bot Federated Suggestions

Gepostet 09. Aug. 2022

Feature Request Summary:

Answer Bot should be able to be trained on and recommend articles from specific other sources such as company API documentation or articles hosted elsewhere in line with the federated search.

Description/Use Cases:

Different teams have different focuses and therefore documentation they manage. The documentation management systems are different platforms. So in order to have resources for Answer Bot to suggest, we must have stub articles directing to the other pages and previously have maintained separate content until their version came online. Both instances create maintenance work for when information or urls change.

Business impact of limitation or missing feature:

The additional maintenance is problematic and not being able to recommend all materials or having to click through a short article to get to the source is a disappointing for end user experience.

Other necessary information or resources:

This is a different ask than including community pages.

Thank you for the feedback Monica! We fully understand the value this integration will bring to the user experience. Including external content in the answer bot suggestion is certainly on our radar. I can't yet share a release date but will update this thread once we put this work on our roadmap.

Cheers!

Including external content would be a nice feature for sure, but the ability to 'train' the answer bot - based on user feedback - would be very helpful. While suggestions when searching in Guide natively seem to work quite well, the Slack integration for Answer Bot seems to have a hard time recommending the right article initially, even if the 'correct' article is shown when clicking 'more suggestions'. The AI seems pretty good, but the ability to coach it actively would lead to a better user experience I think.
