We have articles that convey information regarding beta features of our product. We want to share these and make them available only for users with access to those features, but do not want these articles to be publicly available or searchable.

We also do not want to hide the article behind a login wall.

Is there a solution for this that does not restrict articles to only signed in users? Perhaps a meta tag that is only added if an article has a certain label?

    Hi Bryan -

This article mentions a way to temporarily un-index an individual article: How do I exclude a Help Center page from being indexed by Google

You can also request removal of the existing search results, because they can stick around for a while. You can find more info on that here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?pli=1

However, I'm trying to find clarity on why this is only a temporary solution and why the only permanent one is to restrict your content. I'll follow up when I have more information.

    Hi Bryan,

Sorry for the delayed response! We were able to reach out to the author of this article and it looks like this is something that's controlled on Google's end which is why it's only temporarily unindexed.

Unfortunately, there's no permanent solution we're able to provide from our end.

Let us know if you have any other questions!
