Question
Can I access Zendesk in mainland China?
Answer
From time to time, customers within mainland China have experienced issues with the ability to reach Zendesk services and other services outside of China for various reasons.
Zendesk doesn't have any data centers, cloud infrastructure, or service endpoints within mainland China. However, Zendesk does not have any unique restrictions on the use of our services in China differentiated from other providers.
While Zendesk does not prohibit access to its products from mainland China, it is not possible to guarantee the quality or reliability of service there as Chinese ISPs dynamically change what they block and permit access to. As one example, customers are generally able to interact with end users through the Chat widget, but customers are not able to use the Android mobile app or the SDK with push notifications because Google Play services are blocked in China.
Occasionally, there have also been some issues relating to local firewalls blocking network traffic in and out of China. In general, it means that Zendesk will most likely work in China, but we cannot guarantee the quality or uptime of our services from locations within China. In addition, we have no visibility into network blocking in China to provide insights to customers who encounter these issues.
