Can views be refreshed automatically?

+1 for this request. Automatic refreshing of views should be standard feature, it's available out of the box in tools like Helpscout, Freshdesk, and Happyfox.

We're currently transiting from Helpscout to Zendesk, and our team was honestly surprised by this short coming as we moved over.

As a more robust enterprise product, I'd expect Zendesk to be as fast in updating views as other tools, and as we're currently running both concurrently, Helpscout is notably faster in receiving, sending, and updating views.

  • Marc Schilling

It's a real shame that such an essential feature is not available!
@Zendesk, if you implement this, there is almost nothing to criticize.

  • Sophie Hurst

This is also a big issue for us, we have very strict SLA's and if something gets stuck in suspended and we do not see it then it causes a big problem.

Has anyone used the Auto refresh App to overcome this?

  • Brenden Bennet

My team and I have been using the Zendesk Auto Refresh extension for Chrome for the past year, and it has worked great, but as of last night, it appears that an update from Zendesk has broken this extension as well as other Auto Refresh extensions. If updates are going to block these extensions from working, then the feature absolutely MUST be built into Zendesk with the option to either turn it off or adjust the time intervals for the seemingly few people who wouldn't want their views to refresh automatically. Bashing F5 on our keyboards or clicking into other views that have nothing to do with a particular team's day-to-day work is not an acceptable work-around.

The auto refresh in extension in chrome has been acting erratic over the past few weeks, making it very easy for us to miss tickets that come through. Is this being addressed? @... @...?

We depend on the auto refresh chrome extension (for Views) to meet our very demanding 10 minute first-reply SLAs. It stopped working a month ago and there is no feature native to the product to replace it. My organization needs this.

    Hi all -

Just a reminder that the proper place to make feature requests and share product feedback is in the community. There is not currently an active feature request related to auto refresh in the feedback forum; I would encourage someone to start one there and link back here for everyone to vote on.

Here are the product feedback guidelines and info on how to write an effective feedback post.

Hi all, here's the feedback thread to add to for this issue:

    Automatic Refresh in Views

  • Cliff Davis

The Auto Refresh Chrome extension has now stopped working for me as well.  I can't believe Zendesk is relying on an unsupported voluntarily produced extension for critical functionality.  It's time to switch to Freshdesk!

  • Kirill Akimov

We started experiencing this problem too after the Feb Zendesk update.

It is broken, please offer another solution!

  • Holly Jania

    We've also been experiencing issues.

  • mnemosyne

Why is this not just a built in feature? Free ticketing software like Spiceworks does this at a base level. Tickets are automatically refreshed on a near-instant basis when a new one is submitted. How are we in 2022 and still asking for this level of basic functionality from a Ticketing app?

  • Jon Campbell

anyone find a new plugin that works?

  • WhatsApp Connector

Hello, is this feature expected for the roadmap?

  • Will Martin

It looks like the ZenDesk Auto Refresh extension is no longer working.

I've created a new one that can be found here:

  • Cameron Milne

Will Martin Legend! Are you able to create a sound notification extension that lets you know a ticket has been updated? If you can.. you would be the ultimate boss!

  • Will Martin

    Cameron Milne

That's not a bad idea! If you can give me more details on how that would work, I can try to add that in.

For example, would it only play a sound for tickets updated in the current filter/view you are in?
Or would it play a sound any time the ticket # displayed next to the filter/view names incremented?

  • Anna Billings

Agreed, this is essential for our workflows that we have something like this to work so that agents aren't constantly refreshing their screens to keep up with the unassigned queues.

  • Keith Warno

This "answer" needs to be downvoted to oblivion.

What an absurd omission.  If the ZenDesk Product Management folks cannot see the utility in having a view autoresh then they are severely disconnected from the reality of how their product is used.

Thanks Will for picking up the slack and providing an extension that fills this gap.

  • Cameron Milne

Agreed, tbh, we are considering moving if this is not part of an update. It's a joke if they can't see the importance of SLAs. Using Play for a 'refresh every 5 mins', gees.. That is not a valid response.

  • Amitai Koren-Lawrence

Amazing that 3 years passed and this is still an open issue

  • Snoody McDoobles

it's actually going on almost 4 years (at least):

The article Can views be refreshed automatically? has a new comment.
    Nicole - Community Manager

    Hi "Snoody" -

The product team is aware of this request and sees the value in it. However there are some heavy technical lifts that would be required in order to implement it, and because of that and since there are other ways to refresh the page, it has not been prioritized on the roadmap ahead of other more pressing issues.
