Question

Why do I sometimes get incorrect Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate details for my subdomain?

Answer

An incorrect SSL certificate stored in your browser may cause issues for your subdomain. Clear your browser's SSL state based on your web browser and operating system:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Google Chrome on Mac
  • For Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on PC, you can't clear within the browser settings. To clear the SSL state for Chrome and Edge on Windows:
    1. Open the Start menu
    2. Open Internet Options
    3. In the dialog box, select the Content tab
    4. Click Clear SSL State

SSL host mapping is the process of securing a custom domain or subdomain with an SSL certificate so it's accessible. Host-mapped domains require an SSL certificate.

If the issue persists across multiple browsers and users, generate a new certificate.
