How can I format my custom greetings for Talk?

Answer

The recommended formats for greetings for Talk are G711 µ-LAW or MP3. To convert your audio files to the right format, use one of the third-party tools below.

Converting a file with Audacity

  1. Download Audacity.
  2. Open the software and select File > Import > Audio...

  3. Select your file and click Open.
  4. Select File > Export Audio.

  5. Then set the parameters to the details below:
    Format: WAV (Microsoft)
    Channels: Mono
    Sample Rate: 8000 Hz
    Encoding: U-Law

  6. Choose a folder and filename for the file to save to and click Export.

Converting a file with g711.org

  1. Visit g711.org from the browser of your choice.
  2. Click Browse and locate the file you want to convert on your computer.
  3. Select the output format you need, for example μ-law WAV (8Khz, Mono, CCITT μ-law).
  4. Set the volume to High.
  5. Click Submit.

The page will load a new page for you to download the recording of your converted file.

Tip: If you uploaded an MP3 audio file for your greeting and the sound quality is being reported differently between an agent hearing it in the UI and the end-user experience, use the G711 µ-LAW format for the greeting.
