Why is the "Closed" ticket status missing from my tickets?

Why the change? If it is closed and cannot be edited, it should be a status of “Closed”. (Like it used to be.)

This is a relatively new problem. Actually-closed tickets are showing up as solved in the UI (though the API still correctly shows their status). It's confusing in the UI, so I hope engineering is looking at it…
